最近、民俗学に関する文献を読んでたのだけれど、
秋田のなまはげが「悪い子はいねがー」と家々をまわるとき、
家の主人（父親）は怖がってすがりついて泣く我が子を抱えながら
「うちに悪い子はおりません」と言って、なまはげを丁重にもてなす。
真の目的は、厄除けよりも、父親が怖い鬼から自分を庇ってくれたと
子供に思わせることで、
家族間の結束や父親への尊敬を植え付けるためではないか
という見解があって、それに妙に納得してしまった。
